Enrico Fabiani - Critique: Popular Mechanics Takes on Katrina Myths By Noel Sheppard

Hurricane Katrina was undoubtedly one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history, however, there were responsibilities and measures that could have been taken to lessen the devastation caused by the storm. "Popular Mechanics Takes on Katrina Myths," discusses the stakeholders involved during this particular crisis. This article is very interesting because it reveals the truth behind statements and actions taken by management officials. Aaron Broussard, parish president, was quoted making a statement that his co worker's mother died due to late response to the 2005 incident. Popular Mechanics later confirmed that this was a false statement by Broussard. This article was effective but could have been better. The statements made by PM could have used more concrete detail to support their claims. For example, in the last paragraph PM says, overall production was down just 8 percent, and only three refineries were still off line. Noel Sheppard fails to state where he got this information from. I feel this article could have been improved by providing specific evidence for factual statements. All in all this was an interesting article, despite any lack of specific detail.
